WHAT'S ZUMBA

Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto"Beto"Perez during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included. Approximately 15 million people take weekly Zumba classes in over 200, 000 locations across 180 countries. Zumba classes are typically about an hour long and are taught by instructor licensed by Zumba fitness. In one Zumba class a person can burn between 500- 1000 calories depending on the energy the individual puts into the class.

WHY ZUMBA?

If you hate working out but you need to exercise in order to stay in shape, burn off all the junk food and keep your heart healthy, Zumba is just for you. Grooving to the beats of salsa, flamingo and merengue music feels more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what makes Zumba so popular. The Latin-inspired dance workout is one of the most popular group exercise classes in the world. The high energy classes are set to upbeat music and feature choreographed dance numbers that you might nightclub. You don't need to be a great dancer to feel welcome in a Zumba class. With the tag line, "Ditch the workout, join the Party" the classes emphasize moving to the music and having a good time. No rhythm required.
